Catarine Markus, PhD, earned her doctorate in Crop Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in 2017. Part of her thesis was carried out at the Max Planck Institute in Germany. Currently, she is a professor and researcher at UFRGS, where she has been working since 2018. She is a member of the Brazilian Weed Science Society and has been working with weeds since 2006. Her research areas in Weed Science include herbicide resistance, the molecular biology of weeds, and new methods of weed control.
